To make it clear and simple about this blog is that i’ve just finished upgrading my Motorola Atrix 4G (AT&T) to ALIEN ROM by kennethpenn which runs on Gingerbread 2.3.4 ( AT&T 4.5.91 ) and i’ve found out that although it’s not that difficult to do so, it inevitably took quite sometime for a noob like me to flash ROMs on an android device back and forth without risking myself to BRICK the phone!!!. Fortunate to me that i’ve managed to do so without hassles. However, this came with a few hours of research before given my hand on the flashings. The guides to do so are everywhere on Google and xda-developers website, however there are no direct instructions just yet and here you go…..

Please note that in this instruction, I am only a person who collect guides from different sources and combine&organize them for you. All credits & files download links here are NOT mine. Each sub-instructions here will be referred back to original posts/blogs/threads….

First of all, if your ATRIX 4G is

Done? .. Congratulation and welcome to AT&T Official 1.8.3 Stock Rom.

The 2nd step:
Flash your Atrix 4G from AT&T Official 1.8.3 version to [Stock ROM] Gingerbread 2.3.4 ( AT&T 4.5.91 )
Before we move on to this step, please keep in mind that updating Gingerbread AT&T 4.5.91 via OTA will slim your chance of flashing your ATRIX4G back to previous version of ROMs and risk yourself BRICKING the phone.
If you want to know more about this, please study this thread

Any questions please let me know, i will try my best to answer it ^0^
you dont need all those steps. onece youve rooted your phone unlocked the bootloader and have a custome recovery you can flash romes. i got my atrix and it wasnt even in 4.8 yet when it arrived at my house. within an hour i rooted it ( got superuser permissions) unlocked bootloader and custom recovery then flashed the rom of my choice. att gingerbread wasnt out yet and you do not have to update to it to flash a rom.
i may have learn it hard ways 😉 thank for you opinions! this might help other guys saving a lot of time!
JC, were you suggesting the upgrade to stock Gingerbread to avoid possibly getting bricked by the OTA Gingerbread (and for no other real reason)? Thanks in advance!
Rob, are you sure that what you said about not needing so many steps is true for installing the Alien rom as well?
sorry i ment 1.8 sbf not 4.8
Honestly, the alien sucks compared to the new Darkside update, i recommend getting that, i just got the alien and flashed it to the new darkside, its much faster, smoother, and crispier, and a better interface to work with than the alien, it has all the things alien has with more controls and slightly better things like overclock.
yeah how’s the wifi tethering on the darkside? 🙂 actually i can’t wait for someone to come up with ICS clone ROM or MOD.. i think Atrix’s hadware is more than enough for the ICS.. only that i dont think Motorola will spend its time to release its update.
